Ultrasonic non destructive testing based on sparse deconvolution
نویسندگان
چکیده
The acoustic modality yields non destructive testing techniques of choice for indepth investigation. Given a precise model of acoustic wave propagation in materials of possibly complex structures, acoustical imaging amounts to the so-called acoustic wave inversion. A less ambitious approach consists in processing pulse-echo data (typically, Aor B-scans) to detect localised echoes with the maximum temporal (and lateral) precision. This is a resolution enhancement problem, and more precisely a sparse deconvolution problem which is naturally addressed in the inversion framework. The paper focuses on the main sparse deconvolution methods and algorithms, with a view to apply them to ultrasonic non-destructive testing.

Measurement and Modelling of the Rubber Resilience based on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing in Tires
In tire industry, it is very crucial to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of the rubber which is used for production of the tire, to ensure the quality of the final product. Resilience is an important property of a rubber, which cannot be evaluated through direct measurement in production cycle in this industry. Therefore, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, which has been used in man...

One of the novel ultrasonic phased array based scanning methods for ultrasonic imaging in non-destructive test is total focusing method (TFM). This method employs maximum available information of the phased array elements and leads to an improved defect detection accuracy compared to conventional scanning methods. Despite its high detection accuracy, TFM behaves weak in distinguishing the real ...

متن کاملNon-Destructive Testing of Aerospace Structures: Granularity and Data Mining Approach
| For large aerospace structures, it is extremely important to detect faults, and non-destructive testing is the only practical way to do it. Based on measurements of ultrasonic waves, Eddy currents, magnetic resonance, etc., we reconstruct the locations of the faults. The best (most eecient) known statistical methods for fault reconstruction are not perfect. We show that the use of expert know...
متن کاملAngle Beam Ultrasonic Testing Models and Their Application to Identification and Sizing of Cracks
Identi fication and sizing of surface breaking cracks using angle beam ultrasonic testing in practical situations quite often becomes a very diffi cult task due to the presence of non-relevant signals caused by geometric refl ectors. The present work introduces effective and systematic approaches to take care of such a diffi culty by use of angle beam ultrasonic testing models that can predict ...
